Sports Arena Installs New Indoor Air Quality Technology
WASHINGTON, DC (May 20, 2021) – Events DC, Washington DC’s official convention and sports authority, announced a partnership with AtmosAir Solutions to install bi-polar ionization (BPI) technology at Entertainment & Sports Arena to provide an improved indoor environment for all guests and staff.
AtmosAir Solutions BPI devices, installed inside the building’s HVAC system, improves wellness by suppressing airborne and surface micro-organisms and pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and mold. The technology also reduces odors and unhealthy and irritating volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The BPI devices improve the overall sustainability of Entertainment & Sports Arena by reducing total energy consumption and operational costs.
Entertainment & Sports Arena will also feature AtmosAware, a cloud based indoor air quality monitoring system, allowing Arena staff to monitor concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2), particulate matter and total VOCs in real-time. AtmosAware analyzes historical levels to detect important changes to indoor air conditions conveniently and quickly.
“Across our venues, we are proactively implementing the latest smart health and safety tools as we reopen and welcome guests back for live events this spring and summer,” said Greg O’Dell, president and CEO at Events DC. “We hope that Events DC will be an industry leader in establishing best practices and maintaining the safest and healthiest conditions possible for our guests and staff. We are proud to partner with AtmosAir at Entertainment & Sports Arena and fully recognize the importance and benefits of improved indoor air quality amid today’s environment.”
"We're are very pleased to partner with Events DC and Entertainment & Sports Arena," said Steve Levine, president and CEO of AtmosAir Solutions. "As more people are vaccinated and entertainment venues reopen, it's important that the public knows safety and wellness initiatives have been considered as improved indoor air quality remains a priority. By adding our indoor air purification technology, those who live in the Washington, DC area and attend future events can feel confident that Events DC has taken steps to provide an enhanced solution for indoor environments.
AtmosAir’s BPI technology also plays a role in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Tests performed by Microchem Laboratory, one of the world’s preeminent laboratories for testing sanitizing products registered by the EPA and FDA, confirmed that the presence of coronavirus was reduced by 99.92 percent within 30 minutes of exposure to AtmosAir’s BPI technology in a contained space.
Events DC’s Entertainment & Sports Arena opened in 2018 and serves as the home court for the WNBA Washington Mystics and NBA G League Capital City Go-Go. The 4,200 seat arena also routinely hosts concerts, esports, boxing, amatuer and professional basketball, galas and other dynamic events throughout the year.
Entertainment & Sports Arena joins a growing list of venues that have installed BPI technology including: The Staples Center in Los Angeles, TD Garden in Boston, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA. and the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. and US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis are some of the indoor sports facilities that also use BPI technology.
